About

Diaz wants to bring a higher level of fairness to the other side of the bench. He believes that many judges do not take the time to consider each individual and the special circumstances present in each case, but rather choose to treat all defendants and cases the same. Mark Diaz wants to make sure that all defendants receive fair treatment and appropriate sentencing that is not delivered by rote, but by careful deliberation.

Mark Diaz, the son of Ann and Regino Diaz, was raised to believe in the importance of "hard work, commitment and diversity." His father came to the U.S. from Cuba at the age of 19, speaking little English and having no money or family here for support. However, he worked hard and was able to make a life for himself, finding employment in the printing business. His mother, who grew up in West Columbia, Texas, was raised with the mentality that "you work hard from sun up to sun down," so together, Mark's parents opened their own successful printing business, still in operation today. As a testament to their faith in Mark, his parents will donate printing of all his campaign materials.

According to mark, the most important thing he learned from his parents is that "with dedication anything is possible." He opened his private law firm directly following his graduation from Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 1998 and quickly set out on the road to success. Mark Diaz is certified by The State Bar of Texas, and in addition to his law practice, serves as an officer of the Galveston County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. In addition to his successful law practice, he also earned his license as a real estate broker and is an active member of the Houston Association of Realtors.

On top of being an accomplished attorney and real estate broker, Mark's most cherished role is that of husband and father. When he is not at work, Diaz enjoys fishing and visiting the beach with Kristie, his wife of 10 years, and their two young children, Mark A Diaz II, 8; Sophia Isabella Diaz, 3 years old.
